Attempting The Cape
The plan for the second day in Cape Town was to head for the cape. I headed out with Ashely Palmer to catch a train for Simon's Town. To get to the train station from where we docked was a thirty or so minute walk passing through the wharf mall, past a shipyard and through one end of Cape Town's commercial district. This section of Cape Town makes one forget that they are either in Africa or in a place with such economic disparity. In this area one can catch the commuter trains for next to nothing. A round trip ticket to Simon's Town was just R21 (about 3 USD) and this was a 45-50 minute ride.
